Internalize, Don't Weaponize (Helaman 1-6)
Monday Aug 17, 2020
Monday Aug 17, 2020
This week, we come to the text with a heavy focus on internalized interpretations of the text. We begin by drawing heavily from the work of Clarissa Pinkola-Estes in our identification of archetypes in Helaman 2 and how they teach us about our inner landscape. We then continue with the theme of self-reflection by asking tough questions about accountability and integrity in our social justice work. This episode is definitely a heavy-hitter, but one you won't want to miss!

"Transgressive Heroes": An Episode with Beyond the Block (Alma 17-22)
Monday Jun 22, 2020
Monday Jun 22, 2020
This week, Brother Jones and Brother Knox of Beyond the Block invited us to be guests on their Come Follow Me podcast as we talked about Alma 17-22. In a discussion of queer love, allyship, leveraging privilege, and the powerfully transgressive friendship of Abish and Queen Lamoni--this episode does not disappoint!
If you don't already know, Beyond the Block is a podcast dedicated to centering the marginalized in Mormonism. The hosts describe themselves as staunch advocates for the theology and harsh critics of the culture when it comes to Mormonism. A black life-long member and queer convert respectively, they bring a less heard perspective to the notoriously white and heteronormative faith. You can find them online at beyondtheblockpodcast.com or on social media @btblds.
It was such a pleasure to work with them and we hope you enjoy the episode!
